From Research to Action: The Edu4Impact Training Plan
After months of research, analysis, and collaboration, the Edu4Impact consortium has turned insights into action with the creation of the Edu4Impact Training Plan — a practical educational framework that brings together sport and socio-emotional learning (SEL) to support inclusion and personal growth.
The Training Plan builds directly on what partners discovered during the research phase: sport is a powerful tool for developing emotional intelligence, teamwork, and self-confidence. However, many educators and sport professionals expressed the need for structured methods to connect physical activity with reflection and emotional awareness.
To address this need, the Edu4Impact Training Plan defines five Training Areas, each corresponding to a key SEL competence:
1. Self-Awareness – understanding one’s emotions and strengths
2. Social Awareness – empathising and appreciating diversity
3. Responsible Decision-Making – making ethical, constructive choices
4. Self-Management – regulating emotions and behaviour
5. Relationship Skills – building positive communication and collaboration
Each area includes two Training Cases — practical, experience-based learning activities that use movement, play, and teamwork to turn theory into action. Trainers and educators can adapt these cases to different groups, from professionals to vulnerable adults, making the Plan flexible and inclusive.
The Training Plan also provides guidelines for facilitators, including group management, safety, and assessment tools to help participants reflect on their emotional growth. It encourages cooperation between sport coaches and educators, ensuring a holistic approach that balances physical engagement with emotional reflection.
In the next phase, these materials will evolve into the Edu4Impact Curriculum and an interactive e-learning platform, expanding access across Europe.
